Absolute perfection beginning to end… gorgeous location… fantastic accommodation with all the features you need… very considerate and delightful hosts… will defo be returning soon… a gem hidden away.
Everything about this cottage was 100% perfect. Jean and her daughter Amy were wonderful hosts from the moment we arrived and throughout out stay, nothing was too much trouble for them on our behalf- not that we had any.
We have never stayed in any holiday accommodation anywhere as clean, bright, well furnished and comfortable as Kestrel Cottage. Add the benefit of easy access (less than a mile from A19), located halfway between Durham and the stunning Durham Coastline and a marvellous restaurant (The Blue House) only ½ mile up the road (excellent food, well priced, great staff)… this is an IDEAL holiday venue… even 2 friendly goats in the adjoining field… what more could anyone want. We have used holiday accommodation throughout the UK and abroad previously, but have never experienced a cottage as perfect in every way as this one…
We will DEFINITELY return to this fantastic cottage in its ideal location, owned by two lovely ladies. THANK YOU JEAN & AMY.
Just returned from a 3night stay in Kestrel Cottage. The owners Jean & Amy, mother & daughter team could not have been more welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble for them they went above & beyond to make our stay the best we could have especially in these worrying times with Covid. The attention to detail was outstanding. Re Covid: there are 3 cottages all similar in design & kept to a VERY HIGH standard of not just cleanliness but kitted out with everything you could possibly need or want. I will admit we where worried about staying away from home during these times but as soon as we arrived we could see we had made the right choice in property. Jean & Amy kept us informed form start to finish. They felt bad that they couldn’t provide us with a welcome pack due to Covid but did leave a chilled bottle of Prosecco in the fridge which was most welcomed after a long drive from Devon. The property is gated where you are given your own gate key so you can come & go as you please but also feel very safe & if you have children its an extra piece of mind knowing they can’t wander off. Ample parking right outside your property plus fantastic views over the fields watching the wildlife & its very quiet too. I just wish we could have stayed longer but we will definitely be returning again next year for our sons graduation. Go on book now and you won’t be disappointed. We will certainly be recommending these properties to friends & family who want to stay in that part of the country.
A lovely and well equipped cottage that was perfect for us. Jean and Amy were very welcoming and we will certainly book again. Thank you.
Despite the wet weather & soggy ground we had a good week. Lots of walks along the coast between Seaham and Hartlepool, searching for sea-glass on the beaches, and, on a wet day, a visit to the National Glass Centre to watch a snowman being constructed. Nice to come back to a warm comfortable base, with a superb welcome pack!
